If the Ground Wire Is Attached from the Combiner Box to the Grounding Rod, Do the Panels Still Need to Be Grounded?
If the panels are already grounded to the same grounding rod as the combiner box, it's generally not necessary to add a second grounding. However, during electrical storms, ensuring the grounding of the combiner panel remains critical for safety.
Can I Use Different Wattage Panels to Connect to This Box?
No, this combiner box is designed to work with panels that have the same voltage and wattage. Using panels with different wattages may result in an inefficient or unbalanced system.
Under What Circumstances Is This Used?
This combiner box is primarily used in home solar kits to combine the inputs from up to 5 solar panels into a single output. It can be installed either indoors or outdoors, providing a convenient solution for connecting multiple panels.
Does a Surge Protective Device Have to Be Installed?
Yes, it is strongly recommended to install a surge protective device to protect against potential damage caused by lightning strikes and electrical surges. This helps safeguard your solar system and connected equipment.
