Which kind of extension cord should I purchase with this panel for more mobility from my RV?

You should consider the Renogy Solar Panel Extension Cable. It allows you to create more distance between your solar panels and the charge controller. There are multiple size choices available, but please choose the same size of cable for extension. Additionally, keep in mind that the longer the extension, the greater the line loss, so for longer runs, a larger gauge cable will be required.

Can I add more solar panels with the suitcase to expand my system?

Yes, this solar suitcase is designed for expansion. You can add additional panels to the system based on your needs and available space. We recommend adding the same solar suitcase for expansion.

Does this suitcase come with a charge controller? What size controller should I use with it?

The solar suitcase itself does not include a charge controller. However, you can search for a plug-and-play bundle kit that includes this suitcase and a waterproof Renogy Voyager 20A charger controller. The size of the controller you should use depends on your system's requirements. To determine the appropriate controller size, divide the total power by the battery system voltage, and use the resulting current value as a reference for controller selection.

What do I need to complete my off-grid solar power system?

To complete your off-grid solar power system, you will need the following components:

  • Solar panels
  • Charge controller to regulate current
  • Deep-cycle battery to store electrical power
  • Adapter kit cables to wire the solar panel(s) and charge controller
  • Tray cables connecting the charge controller to a deep-cycle battery

Are these monocrystalline or polycrystalline panels?

The suitcase includes 2 pieces of 50W Renogy high-quality monocrystalline solar panels.

Can I use this suitcase on rainy days? Can rain damage the solar kit?

The solar panels are fully waterproof with an IP66 rating. They can work on rainy days and are suitable for various scenarios, such as marine and yacht applications. However, it's recommended to use the suitcase with a waterproof charge controller to prevent water from damaging the controller's internal circuitry.

Why is my solar panel underproducing?

Solar panel performance may be hindered by various factors, including environmental conditions such as indirect sunlight, temperature fluctuations, cloudy skies, and dirt and stain buildup on the top glass. Since this is a portable suitcase, you can try adjusting its position or the tilt angle of the kickstands to maximize sunlight exposure. Under ideal conditions, this panel can produce approximately 500 Watt-hours per day, calculated based on an expected 5 hours of sunlight availability at 100W.

What does the 12V/24V in the product title of the solar panel mean? Why is it different from the value on the label/specification sheet of the solar panel?

The "12V/24V" in product titles (e.g., 100W 12V Monocrystalline Solar panel) does not refer to the actual voltage (Voc or Vmp) of the solar panels but rather to the voltage of the solar system or energy storage system to which the panel is best suited. The voltage of the solar panel must be higher than the solar system voltage for compatibility.

Can I use this suitcase to charge my 120V receptacles directly?

No, the suitcase is not able to charge 120V power receptacles directly. To achieve 120V output, you would need a 12V battery and an inverter. The solar panel will recharge the battery, which can then supply power to the inverter, converting it to 120V power for your receptacles.
